ElectricCarCharging-Meg MagsamenGet Plugged In at the Zoo!

To help out the road warriors out there who are also eco warriors, the Indianapolis Zoo is going green — again! As part of the renovations to our Entry Plaza, we've added two stations in the the main parking lot where you can recharge your electric cars! Located near the front of the east end of the parking lot by the picnic area, the two recharging stations are available for a nominal charge for either four or eight hours. Just ask the guest services representative at the front gate to get you hooked up and ready while you enjoy a leisurely visit with the animals at the Zoo.

ElectricCarCharging-MegMagsamenYou can see how the stations work in this photo of a Chevrolet Volt getting all charged up, courtesy of our friends at Penske Automotive. The Volt is the first electric car that runs on more than electricity, with an electric battery that allows you to drive gas-free for an EPA-estimated 35 miles, plus an onboard gas generator that produced electricity so you can go up to a total of 375 miles on a full tank of gas.
